Today is Valentine's Day. And, although I didn't truly celebrate, let's just follow the mainstream, shall we? So, I found some unique facts, but scientific nonetheless, online. Here's some:
1. Love at first sight is real! At least, when we saw the one we like on the first time, there's this chemical that pumps up love into our system. What makes it even more interesting, same thing happens when we saw these beautiful shoes, this awesome-looking laptop, or that cool car.
2. People who are in "eros"-kind of love is basically the same as OCD patients. Study founds similarities in the way OCDs and early-lovebirds (under six months) think and their serotonin level (both are low, btw).
3. Women are attracted the most to men with strong jaw and funny thought. It's the best combination ever possible. Strong jaw signifies manliness and good health while humor signifies intellugence. So, who says chicks don't dig nerds?
4. Men are more attracted to an ovulating woman. And somehow, they can detected that from the smell of sweat. Talking about sweat, men are attracted to women whose sweat smells different than theirs, and vice versa. And women whose sweat-scent are similar with their husband are more likely to cheat.
5. Love is a healthier kind of addiction. There's this region in the brain that activated when people experience love, and it is the same as those who inject cocaine or opioid. Turns out, the lover IS the drug.
6. Principal of Attractiveness: You must be perfectly symmetrical. If you're a man, you must have broad shoulder and narrow hips. If you're a woman, you must have narrow waist and broad hips.
7. Difference (NOT) complement! Face it, most of us are in love with someone similar to us. Or, at least share the same beliefs, thoughts, and opinion. So, being (or pretending to be) a good listener helps.
So, have you thought of your Valentine's gift? My opinion, opt for grander one, like the one my colleague received from her (soon to be) lover:
Bring these and be the star of office today :P |
